键合固定相之所以广泛用在毛细管柱中，是因为能提供的柱质量。为了真正地融合传统的填充柱和毛细管柱各自的优点，有必要开发用于填充柱的键合液相。现在通过使用Restek键合固定相填充柱，填充柱色谱分析者可以享有短的调节时间的、低的流失水平、更长的使用寿命。
在制作过程中用溶剂冲洗的方法去除能延长调节周期的低分子量聚合物片段。我们的键合填料在30分钟内就可以恢复稳定。因为键合相的流失很低，检测器可以在灵敏度很高的状况下工作，数据系统对流失补偿的需求也被大大降低。

键合固定相的另外一个优点就是比非键合固定相的寿命长。相比非键合固定相，键合固定交联键合力，分子间的作用力更大，因而抗氧化能力更强。由于这种材料是*的交联结合，因此不会像非键合草料那样出现液相流失现象。
